Interim agreement between Amadeus and American Airlines brings full content without surcharges to Amadeus Agencies
Amadeus is designated as a competitive booking source for the carrier, enabling Amadeus agencies to book full content without content surcharges through November 2006
MIAMI, October 19, 2006: Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, today announced it has reached an interim agreement with American Airlines. The agreement provides the carrier with competitive economics and Amadeus travel agents with continued access to full content without incurring segment surcharges through November 2006, as the two companies work toward completing a long-term agreement.
"As a result of reaching mutually agreed terms, we are very pleased to announce this interim agreement with American Airlines," said Peter von Moltke, Senior Vice President of the Airline Business Group for Amadeus North America. "Access to full content without the imposition of surcharges is critical to our travel agency customers."
Retroactive to September 1st , the interim agreement designates Amadeus as a competitive booking source for American Airlines through November 2006. Therefore, Amadeus agents in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will continue to have integrated access to all publicly available fares and inventory offered by American, without being subject to an airline content surcharge such as American's "Source Premium Charge."
Additionally, as a result, Amadeus and American have agreed to postpone any pending legal proceedings while the interim agreement is in effect. Additional terms of the interim agreement were not disclosed.
