SGTP Awards Recognize Amadeus Excellence in Technology and Corporate Evolution

Amadeus’ end-to-end travel solutions and corporate brand efforts to be recognized at the Society of Government Travel Professionals’ Annual Conference, February 8th-10th

MIAMI, January 23, 2006: Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has been awarded two Certificates of Merit from the Society of Government Travel Professionals (SGTP) in recognition of its end-to-end travel solutions as well as the evolution of its corporate culture.

“We are so pleased that our dedication and efforts as a technology provider as well as an evolving industry partner have been recognized by SGTP,” said Tom Cates, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Amadeus North America.  “It is an honor to be recognized among outstanding companies who have contributed positively to advance excellence in the government travel market.”

Amadeus and the other recipients of SGTP’s 2005 Professional Development Awards will be honored at the organization’s Leadership Luncheon on February 10th , the culminating event of its annual conference held February 8th-10th at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia.

Amadeus was selected for its end-to-end solutions for travel professionals which include the Amadeus Selling Platform (Vista), the industry’s first browser-based, point-of-sale platform designed to help travel professionals focus on selling and developing customer relations rather than just making bookings. The Amadeus Selling Platform makes it faster and easier than ever for travel professionals to book flights, hotels, car rentals, insurance, local content and much more from one integrated point-of-sale solution.  Amadeus’ solutions also include industry-leading e-commerce tools and services such as Amadeus e-Travel Management (Aergo), the online travel booking solution that helps corporations manage their travel policies more efficiently. Also part of the portfolio, Amadeus processes more transactions than any GDS company via Global MAX™, the powerful back office travel information management system for large agencies and travel management companies.

SGTP also recognized Amadeus for efforts in 2005 in changing its corporate culture including corporate name change, renovations, and multi-brand umbrella marketing.

“Amadeus has evolved in the last few years. Beginning in 2005 and with more to come in 2006 and beyond, we have started to clearly communicate who we are today and what we can offer our diverse customer base,” said Cates. “Amadeus not only wants to continue to be number one in travel distribution, we’re striving to be the technology partner of choice to the travel industry worldwide.”

The Society of Government Travel Professionals is the national, non-profit forum of all government travel market components whose objectives are to educate its members and to facilitate innovation and best practices in government travel. SGTP's Professional Development Awards entries were judged by a panel of government and travel industry experts based on their effectiveness, innovation and creativity in addressing an industry problem.
