Travel Helping Travel: Amadeus Rolls Up Its Sleeves To Help Restore New Orleans, One of America's Great Travel Destinations

Almost 300 employees attending the annual conference of travel technology company, Amadeus, volunteered a day of community service in cooperation with New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity

New Orleans, LA, January 25, 2007 – Amadeus, a global provider of technology solutions to the travel and tourism industry, brought almost 300 of its North American employees to New Orleans this week for not only their annual company conference, but for a day of community service in cooperation with New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.

"As a company dedicated to the continued growth and success of the travel industry, we are truly excited about being able to help the people and the city of New Orleans, one of our nation's most unique and beloved travel destinations," said Kay Urban, president and CEO of Amadeus North America.

Amadeus employees spent the day painting, hammering and cleaning at several New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity homes including sites in the Musicians' Village and the Upper Ninth Ward.  NOAHH builds new houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families to eliminate poverty housing in the New Orleans area while serving as a catalyst to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. In the coming years, NOAHH plans to build 1,500 homes in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines parishes.

Urban said that when Amadeus was considering the best place to hold its annual conference this year, New Orleans went immediately to the top of the list.  And adding a community service component – something the company has never done before – was a unanimous decision.

"Since Amadeus' North American headquarters are based in Miami, many of our employees have experienced first-hand the devastating affects of a significant hurricane," said Urban.  "We just wanted to do anything we can to help."

Urban said that as a supporter of tourism, Amadeus hopes that others who love travel – from travel industry professionals to voluntourists – will continue to contribute their time and talent to help restore New Orleans for the world to enjoy.

"There's no other place like it."
