Ibis Budget, Accor’s benchmark budget brand and European leader in its category, has arrived into Amadeus Hotels offering simple, comfortable no-frills accommodation in up to 18 countries.
Formerly known as Etap Hotels, ibis budget is the result of an extensive rebrand and offers guests looking for autonomy and simplicity, essential comfort at a budget price. Accor’s rebrand goes far further than just a new name – it reflects Accor’s aspiration to revolutionize its economy brand portfolio around the Ibis brand, which is known all over the world as a leading economy hotel chain.
Offering extremely competitive rates (from £18 per night in the UK), ibis budget guests will be greeted with a new design. The brand’s new “cocoon” rooms have been conceived with a focus on basic needs of pragmatic travelers looking for good sleep in a modern and comfortable environment. The atmosphere is distinctly cosy, with soft and relaxing colours and clever use of light circulation to maximize space and enhance materials. The entire ibis budget network is continuously renovated in order to provide the same level of comfort everywhere within the coming years. The public areas, offering free WiFi access in most hotels will also progressively be redesigned and turned into modern, lively places where the reception, snack and all-you-can-eat varied and balanced breakfast spaces are optimized to create a warm, friendly atmosphere, novel in the budget hotel segment.
New “cocoon” rooms for up to three people boast new features including a comfortable bedding with a cosy duvet, touch sensitive reading lights, a large flat-screen TV with a media hub where guests can hook up their camera, games console etc. as well as an en suite bathroom. In fact, the new ibis budget room concept, designed in cooperation with Priestmangoode, won a Best Interior Design prize at the 2008 European Hotel Design Awards.
Ludovic Dupont, Vice President distribution travel agencies at Accor described why it makes sense for ibis budget to be distributed in the GDS: “The Travel Agencies are key partners for Accor in business and leisure travel. We are really happy to offer them the possibility to book ibis budget hotels through Amadeus. It is a very efficient way to access to the ibis budget value proposition. After launching successfully a pilot with 32 ibis budget hotels, we are working on extending the Amadeus distribution to the other properties of the network (more than 400 properties) in the next weeks to come”.
At Amadeus, we are pleased to be the first and only GDS, at this point in time, to welcome this new and exciting content which we are sure you’ll find extremely useful in your search for that perfect hotel bedroom for your clients. With a network of about 500 properties, you’ll find more and more ibis budget hotels appearing in your Amadeus displays, including from day 1 all eighteen properties in the UK. Remember, you can book this content easily within Amadeus, either from our Command Page using Accor’s chain code RT or through our easy to use and fully graphical hotel booking product, Amadeus Hotels Plus.
Simon Taylor, Product Specialist at Amadeus UK & Ireland, described why partnering with Ibis Budget is an important milestone for Amadeus Hotels and in particular, the UK market: "It is so important to keep delivering new, relevant hotel content to UK customers in the budget sector which is growing and growing".
