2009 Introduces a new age of austerity for executive travellers

"In 2009, executives expect to make fewer, shorter and cheaper trips, and switch from luxury extras in favour of basic efficiency and good service..."

This is according to a global survey of business travellers commissioned by Amadeus from the Economist Intelligence Unit.

47% of executives surveyed said they will be taking fewer trips in the next twelve months, and over a quarter (28%) expect to be downgraded from 4- and 5-star hotels. 63% of respondents expect their companies to use the economic downturn to extract the best possible rates from hotels.

Exploring how the global economic crisis will feed into corporate travel plans, the report demonstrates how corporate travellers can tackle the downturn and includes some tips they can take on board when selecting accommodation.
