Our social responsibility is important to Amadeus and that’s why we have partnered with UNICEF to enable travel providers and sellers to raise funds by giving their customers the opportunity to make a micro donation when paying for travel online.
This partnership was unveiled on April 4th at the Royal Society of Arts in London, where a roundtable was held to analyse the role of technology in corporate responsibility projects. There was an enriching discussion between the partners in this initiative and participants from universities, CSR bodies and the press.
This joint project represents an innovative model for driving donations. The technology solution that Amadeus has provided to UNICEF, as a philanthropic contribution, will help this international organisation harness collective, global action to raise funds for children.
Travellers will just need to make one click to confirm their donation. It couldn’t be simpler.
During the first stage of this programme, selected travel providers and sellers, such as airline websites and online travel agents, will integrate a ‘check box’ on their online booking pages. If a traveller chooses to make a donation, they will receive a confirmation email.
Investing in today’s children, especially in their health and education, helps to break the cycle of poverty. Cooperation between the private sector and non-profit organisations is instrumental in this, creating more stable societies and sustainable growth.
The Amadeus – UNICEF partnership sets the foundation for broader collaboration using technological innovation and engaging the global travel industry to crowd-source funds for children’s projects around the world.
