Gerry Smith
VP Operations & Deputy GM Amadeus Data Processing
Gerry was appointed VP Operations & Deputy GM Amadeus Data Processing in July 2009. In this role, he is responsible for overall operational delivery and all service management processes within Global Operations. Gerry also deputises for EVP Operations for operational and administrative responsibilities.
Prior to this role, Gerry was Director IT Implementation Services from June 2007. He had responsibility for the implementation of applications and business services into the infrastructure and operations environment.
Before that, Gerry was Director, Airline IT Operations from February 2004. Gerry had operational responsibility for all Airline IT customers and services, including operational readiness and implementation of the Altéa Inventory and DCS applications for the launch customers.
From 2001 Gerry was Director, Technical Services in Amadeus Services Ltd., based in London. In this role he was responsible for the maintenance, support and development of the RTZ and RTB TPF system platforms running services for British Airways and Amadeus Hosted Services, and for the Service Delivery relationship with BA.
Gerry joined Amadeus in September of 1988 as a Senior TPF System Support Programmer and worked on the initial cutover of the Amadeus system into production. Since 1994, he has held a number of management positions within ADP, including Online Coverage Manager, Manager System Operations with responsibility for the data centre in Erding, Manager TPF Systems and Project Manager of the BA Transition Project.
Gerry graduated in 1985 with Honours from the University of Limerick, Ireland with a BSc degree in Applied Mathematics. He then spent three years with Aer Lingus, working in the ACP / TPF systems and coverage groups..
