Alternative Methods of Payment (AMOP) are "non-bank card" payments, these payment options are emerging and are mostly accepted on the internet and mobile.

The AMOP offered by Amadeus are available on the web channel with PayPal for example, which has a worldwide coverage.

The AMOP offered by Amadeus are categorised in 2 types:

  • real time acceptance (synchronous), when ticket issuance is triggered following the corresponding acceptance process e.g. PayPal, Ideal
  • deferred acceptance (asynchronous), when ticket issuance is triggered by the receipt of a payment notification e.g. cash payment

Main Amadeus Alternative Methods of Payment Features

Amadeus e-Wallet               
  • e-Wallets are online accounts in which consumers can store funds to use for e-Commerce. It can be loaded through conventional financial instruments, such as credit cards and/or bank transfers
  • Amadeus is currently offering PayPal. PayPal allows airlines to accept payment from any PayPal users account on their online sales channel. The result of the PayPal payment is automatically recorded in the booking (automatic PNR update)
Amadeus Real-time Bank Transfer
  • Real-time bank transfer enables transfer of funds from the passenger bank account to the airline bank account (push transaction). This method of payment is highly secured (for both, the airline and the buyer) and offer quick settlement (usually the next day)
  • Amadeus is currently offering iDEAL as a Dutch real-time bank transfer available for any Dutch bank account owner. The result of the iDEAL payment is automatically recorded in the booking (automatic PNR update)
Cash Payment
  • Cash Payment allows a customer to book his ticket and then go to a participating network or branded outlet to make the payment. The ticket is issued only when the payment is received on the merchant's account
  • As of today, Amadeus has integrated different local cash payment methods on airline's specific demand
