Iberia implements Amadeus solution for the distribution of ancillary services

Iberia, Spain’s largest air transport group, has adopted Amadeus Ancillary Services to distribute its ancillary programme to travel agencies. The solution is launching in Spain where travel agents can now offer advanced seat selection to their customers. The new service enables travellers to book their preferred seat prior to the check-in process - when seats are generally assigned – and includes an option to choose preferential seats such as those in the exit row.

Airline ancillary revenue soars to $32.5 billion worldwide in 2011

Ancillary revenue has become a crucial component in the global airline industry's profit toolbox. The International Air Transport Association slashed its 2011 industry profit outlook to USD 4 billion and revealed that carriers will spend USD 10 billion more on jet fuel this year. 'Airline Industry 2011 Profit Outlook Slashed to USD 4 Billion' IATA press release dated 6 June 2011. The USD 32.5 billion contributed by ancillary revenue has lifted the airline industry from a loss making position and continues to provide a very effective hedge against runaway fuel bills. Earlier this year, Amadeus and IdeaWorks reported the ancillary revenue disclosed by 47 airlines in 2010. These statistics were applied to a larger list of more than 200 airlines to provide a truly global projection of activity for 2011. The Amadeus Worldwide Estimate of Ancillary Revenue for 2011 is the second year Amadeus and IdeaWorks have undertaken the task of calculating global ancillary revenue activity.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) becomes the first Japanese airline to select Amadeus' Altéa Customer Management Solution

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's leading airline group, and Amadeus announced that ANA will become the first Japanese airline to implement Amadeus' Altéa Customer Management Solution. ANA's migration to Amadeus Altéa will mark a major step in the group's initiative to modernise and consolidate its passenger service system, as the airline replaces its existing legacy system which has served it for the past twenty years.

Korean Air and TOPAS partner with Amadeus to power the future of the Korean travel industry

Korean Air, South Korea's flagship airline, and Amadeus announced a partnership that will power the future of the Korean travel industry. Korean Air will transform its passenger service systems by migrating to the full suite of Amadeus' Altéa Customer Management Solution. Furthermore, Korean Air's subsidiary TOPAS, Korea's leading travel information system provider, has selected Amadeus as the platform for its next generation travel agency reservation system.

Global report commissioned by Amadeus identifies emerging technologies set to solve passenger pain points at the airport

A new industry report, Navigating the Airport of Tomorrow, identifies changing attitudes to the modern airport and charts the technologies that over the next ten years will attempt to solve passenger frustrations whilst also delivering the much anticipated 'total travel experience'. Authored by Norm Rose of Travel Tech Consulting Inc, the report reveals that passengers across the world are regularly still suffering significant problems whilst at the airport including when checking-in, collecting and dropping off baggage and passing through security checks.

AviancaTaca signs landmark IT agreement with Amadeus, marking TACA as the 100th airline to select Altéa

Amadeus today announces it has signed a strategic IT agreement with AviancaTaca, the Latin American airline group, that simultaneously marks TACA as the 100th airline to choose Amadeus' Altéa customer management system. Whilst the group has to date been using various modules of the Altéa customer management system, as part of the new agreement and in line with its internal modernisation process, AviancaTaca will now adopt the complete Altéa platform across the entire group.

Saudi Arabian Airlines completes successful migration to Amadeus' Altéa CMS and e- Commerce solutions

Amadeus today announces that Saudi Arabian Airlines has successfully migrated to the Reservation and Inventory modules of its next-generation Altéa Customer Management System (CMS) and core components of the Amadeus e-Commerce suite. Following last month's migration, the airline has already registered a significant increase in bookings with online sales now representing over 20 per cent of total bookings which shows a healthy growth on previous figures

Amadeus processes record number of airline passengers through its Altéa platform

Amadeus today announced record performance of its airline IT business and strategy highlights for 2010. Amadeus' airline IT division has seen a strong uptake of its flagship solution, the Altéa Suite, which enables airlines to seamlessly manage their customers from their shopping experience to check-in. Over the course of 2009, Amadeus' data centre processed 238 million passengers boarded from airlines using Altéa, 23% more than in the previous year. This represents 11% of the world's air traffic

LOT modernise its core passenger systems with the adoption of Amadeus' inventory

LOT Polish Airlines and Amadeus today announce the expansion of their IT partnership agreement with the adoption of the Star Alliance Common IT Platform (CITP) inventory module, provided by Amadeus. LOT, which has been a user of Amadeus' Altéa reservation system since 2003, will now add the Amadeus Altéa inventory module to its customer management system. After the implementation, which is expected to be completed by the second half of 2010, the airline will manage both reservations and inventory from an integrated, new generation technology platform

Asiana Airlines signs MOU for Amadeus' Altéa solution

Asiana Airlines and Amadeus today announced the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) to commence detailed evaluation of the Amadeus Altéa Customer Management System (CMS). Under this MOU, Asiana will set the timelines for their assessment and planning for the future implementation of Altéa.
