Amadeus launches Agenta en Español to serve the needs of Spanish-speaking travel agencies in the U.S.

New host solution provides independent and home-based agencies with consolidator airfares, booking tools, fulfillment and support in Spanish

Miami, Florida, June 11, 2013:  Amadeus, a leading technology partner for the global travel industry, announced today the launch of Amadeus Agenta en Español, a new hosted agency solution in Spanish which enables travel agents to selltheir way and in their language while also helping them increase their earning potential and streamline their business.
Specifically designed for independent and home-based travel agents who live in the US and speak Spanish or serve US-based Spanish-speaking customers, Agenta en Español gives agents access to relevant travel content such as consolidator airfares as well as tools and support in both Spanish and English. The solution addresses the needs of a growing segment of the independent travel agency market and is the only program of its kind offered by a global distribution system.
“Amadeus Agenta en Español gave us the necessary tools and support to speed up the ticket sale process and better serve my Spanish speaking agents,” said Jose Magana, owner of Universe Travel based in Hidalgo, Texas, and one of the several travel agencies that piloted Agenta en Español. “The program is affordable and extremely easy to use, allowing me to increase our commissions and run my business more efficiently, which in turn facilitated better service for our customers.”
Simple and straightforward to use, Agenta en Español allows travel agents to avoid costly start-up and administrative fees as all hosting, ticketing, fulfillment and customer support is provided by Amadeus-approved host agency partners in both Spanish and English. Amadeus is currently partnering with three host agencies: Dan Travel, Acapulco Travel and IberoAmericana Travel.
Agenta en Español is based on Amadeus Agenta, the long-established, low-cost, easy-to-use host solution available for travel agencies in North America. The solution combines travel technology and booking tools with host agency ticketing, fulfillment, administration and support and delivers competitive, negotiated fares and travel content via Amadeus’ flagship booking product, Amadeus Selling Platform Connect.
“The number of independent and home-based travel agencies has continued to increase at a steady pace and is now among the fastest growing industry segments. And with the Spanish-speaking population in the US also increasing, offering a tailored solution like Agenta en Español assures that travel agencies can make the most of their business opportunities and best serve their customers,” said Scott Alvis, Chief Marketing Officer, Amadeus North America.
Amadeus Agenta en Español provides time-saving tools, high-value content and support services that allow travel agents to streamline business operations and increase their market competitiveness. Features and benefits include:
