NBTA and Amadeus Cement Partnership, Secure Business Icon Jack Welch to Speak at 2011 Master Program

Houston, TX (August 9, 2010) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the premier resource for business travel professional resources and networking – together with Amadeus, a leading transaction processor and provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel community – today announced a partnership agreement to take the Masters Program to the next level. The strategy will transform the Masters Program into a global thought-leadership forum for C-level and senior executives and a think tank for the travel industry.

09/08/2010.
The first step in the transformation is the addition of business icon Jack Welch for the 2011 Masters Program. The announcement was made today at the NBTA International Convention & Exposition, being held in Houston, where NBTA also announced that is has acquired and taken full control of the Masters Program, a well-established business travel industry conference in which NBTA has been a long-time strategic partner.
NBTA Executive Director & CEO Michael W. McCormick said, “NBTA has been involved in The Masters Program for more than eight years, helping corporate travel professionals to navigate the ever-evolving business world. Now with 100 percent ownership and the generous support and vision of Amadeus, we are committed to building on the legacy of this established industry event and investing to create an even higher level of programming.”
Jack Welch is synonymous with successful business. When he was Chairman & CEO of General Electric (GE) from 1981 to 2001, Welch’s management style became legendary, driving record growth and expansion. In his 20 years of leadership at GE, Welch increased the value of the company from $13 billion to more than $400 billion. In 1999, Fortune named him the "Manager of the Century," and the Financial Times recently named him one of the three most admired business leaders in the world. He recently launched the “Jack Welch Management Institute,” an online MBA program aimed at giving students around the world and at every career level the tools to transform organizations of the future.
"Thought-leadership, collaboration, and a clear future vision are all critical to the continued advancement of the global travel industry. That is why Amadeus is delighted to be joining forces with NBTA to bring about this unique event featuring some of the top leaders and visionaries in business, such as Jack Welch,” said Philippe Chérèque, Executive Vice President, Commercial for Amadeus.

Chérèque added that the NBTA Masters Program partnership is indicative of Amadeus' ongoing commitment to the travel marketplace. McCormick added, “The enhanced Masters Program by NBTA will provide attendees opportunities to learn from the best minds in business, helping them become strategic assets to their organizations.”
The Masters Program by NBTA will be held February 8-9, 2011, at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C.
