Laurens joined Amadeus in May 2016 as a strategic advisor to the Executive Committee and was appointed Distribution Senior Vice President in January 2017.
He started his career in finance within the Fortis/ABN AMRO organization, running their online insurance businesses in the Benelux among other positions.
After that and in the founding days of e-commerce, he co-founded an internet incubator and served as COO with one if its spin-offs, Booking.com. In this role, he focused on expanding Booking.com's geographical footprint outside Europe, on-boarding new teams and growing local business working from 75 offices around the globe.
Prior to joining Amadeus, Laurens was part of the Expedia Travel Leadership team serving as President of their Global Lodging business. He managed lodging supply for the portfolio of Expedia group brands, including teams dedicated to global market management, global strategic accounts and supplier industry relations.
Laurens is a Dutch native, he speaks German, Dutch and English and is based in Madrid and London. He holds an MBA from Groningen University and Warwick Business School and various postgraduate qualifications from IMD Business School.
