Amadeus launches a browser based reservation tool called AmadeusPro Web. Amadeus reveals details about Project Vista the code name for a new browser-based product featuring internet and TCP/IP connectivity. In Europe, Amadeus sets up joint venture travel websites on a regional level. It signs a 50/50 joint venture agreement with Terra Networks the e-commerce subsidiary of Teléfonica, to establish an e-travel website targeting Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries.
British Airways and Qantas partner with Amadeus to develop the next generation of customer IT management solutions for their reservation, inventory and departure control systems. In recognition of these contracts, Amadeus immediately opens a support and development site near London’s Heathrow Airport and announces plans to open another in Sydney, Australia. This evolution also leads the company to establish a new business division called Airline IT.
