Amadeus successfully connects all System One users into the Amadeus global distribution system (GDS), in the largest migration in travel industry history to date. More than 183,000 travel agency and airline sales office terminals worldwide are now connected to Amadeus. Amadeus becomes the world’s largest GDS, processing one million bookings in a single day for the first time.
Amadeus becomes the first GDS to be awarded the ISO 9002 certification, which covers customer support and data management services. To demonstrate its commitment to global customer support, Amadeus launches its Follow The Sun help desk initiative. Responsibility for continuous customer support is assumed by each of the three strategically located centres around the world – Sophia Antipolis, Miami and Bangkok.
