About Tucson

Much of Tucson's economic development has been centered on the development of the University of Arizona, currently the second largest employer in the city. Davis-Monthan Air Force Base also provides many jobs for Tucson residents. Its presence, in addition to a U.S. Army Intelligence Center, has led to the development of a significant number of high-tech industries and government contractors in the area. Tucson is also a major hub for the Union Pacific Railroad's Sunset Route that links the Los Angeles ports with the South/Southeast regions of the country.

A popular spot for vacationers, retirees and “Snowbirds” who trade in their snow shovels for golf clubs each winter, Tucson residents enjoy a moderate climate (65 to 74 degrees in Jan. through March). On average, the warmest month is June (99 degrees) and Dec. is the coolest month (64 degrees).
