Amadeus Remote Ticketing
Reduce ticket delivery time and costs
With the increasing numbers of call centres and the centralisation of many of the ticketing departments, there is an increasing need for remote ticketing. There are various methods of printing a ticket at a different location from where the ticketing transaction (TTP) is entered. The main idea of this is to enable a travel agency to print their tickets at or near the point where they are to be collected, thus cutting down on delivery costs and times.
Branch Ticketing
This is designed for any agency with more than one ticketing site, and allows the head office to print tickets at another location. The tickets are printed using the branch sites ticket stock and are reported to BSP through the branch sites IATA number.
Satellite Ticketing (STP)
This is mainly designed to work with ATB ticket printing, and enables a travel agent to print tickets at a non-agency site. As it is not permitted to set up STP printing where the remote site is a travel agency or a tour operator, this is mainly designed for corporate implants. The advantage of using ATB ticketing is that it is possible to designate which coupons print where, so the passenger and the flight coupons print at the satellite site and the agency coupons print at the main agency site. It is important to note that the satellite site should have a valid satellite IATA number and IATA also require for there to be two personnel trained at the satellite site in dealing with the ticket printer and tickets.
Cross Border Satellite Ticketing (EUSTP)
EUSTP is designed to allow a travel agency in one country to print tickets at a site in another country, as with STP the satellite site cannot be a travel agency or a tour operator. Most of the other restrictions are the same as for STP with a valid IATA number and trained staff required at the STP site. There are additional regulations the main ones being that this is only valid between EU countries and the only tickets that can be issued at the satellite site are those with travel originating within that country. EUSTP uses the same set up as Satellite ticketing, with the choice of either leased line or Internet connectivity.
Satellite Ticketing Delivery Office (STDO)
STDO is designed to fill in one of the gaps within remote ticketing, to generalise it is satellite ticketing to a non-IATA travel agency. This means that the host site can print a ticket at a non-IATA agency, meaning that large agencies have a cost effective way of distributing tickets to smaller agencies. The advantage of this is not only a saving in the costs of IATA licences but also it means that large multiples can centralise ticketing rather than having to have trained staff at several locations. As the STDO site is not a full IATA agency they cannot print tickets themselves and they will only receive the passenger coupons when the host site prints. Again STDO can use the same set up as Satellite ticketing, so with the choice of either leased line or Internet connectivity.
In addition to the solutions suggested above, it is possible to have a central office preparing the entire ticket shell and then queuing the booking back to the branch offices. The branch office can then issue the ticketing command and print the ticket.
