Harness the power of Amadeus
Developers can harness the power of the Amadeus system through the Amadeus Application Programming Interface (API) and structured EDIFACT (EDI) messaging. Mid- to back-office systems can extract information from the comprehensive Amadeus Interface Record (AIR).
Amadeus EDI
Based on a host-to-host connection, Amadeus EDI links a customer’s reservations system directly to the Amadeus Central System in Munich.
This allows the systems to communicate using industry-approved structured messages (IATA/UN EDIFACT) enabling agents to continue working in their own familiar environment while accessing a wealth of Amadeus information behind the scenes. The product is available via our X.25 and IP networks.
Amadeus EDI is built on the strength of the Amadeus central system which means that much of Amadeus’ unique functionality is available to your consultants and customers, including Dual city air availability, Negotiated space for group allotments and Value Pricer best fare search.
Amadeus API
Amadeus API allows software developers to build personalised applications that transparently access Amadeus. It ensures that developed applications have a stable and secure connection to the Amadeus Central System. Relatively easy to set up, Amadeus API requires the support of industry standard communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
For further information about Amadeus API, please refer to the API development website: api.dev.amadeus.net. Your Amadeus account or sales manager would be happy to arrange access to the password protected pages of this website should you require it.
Amadeus AIR/IMR
The Amadeus Interface Record (AIR) and Information Management Record (IMR) serves as the data transfer vehicle enabling agents to control their operations through extensive information sharing on fares and bookings, optimising BSP report management, invoicing, pre-ticketing reporting, automated booking control and synchronisation with booking changes.
This one-way AIR/IMR communication can be transmitted at time of ticketing, at every end transaction and manually. Through a number of sophisticated settings you can control what information is transmitted and when.
The majority of back office systems available in the UK currently use this interface. If your organisation has developed your own system, we can assist you during your development against the AIR. To receive the relevant specification you will need to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which can be obtained via your Amadeus contact.
If you require a product that offers two-way communication (e.g. to update PNR’s with information) the Amadeus API or EDI products should be considered. This alternative route has been taken by a number of our customers
