Amadeus in the Community

Amadeus recognises its contribution and responsibilities to the communities in which it operates. Below are just some of the ways that our enthusiastic team demonstrate the company's partnership ethos when it comes to supporting stakeholder communities in the travel industry and locally.

London to Brighton Bike Ride 2011

On Sunday 13 June 2011 28,000 cyclists made the grueling 54 mile journey from London to Brighton. Two of those cyclists were our very own Ian and Shelly Montague. Ian and Shelley were part of 'Team Rawhide' looking to raise money for The British Heart Foundation.  Congratulations to them for completing the ride, and a special well done to Ian who was one of the few that managed to ascend to the top of Ditchling Beacon without stopping. The 'Team Rawhide' photo is below.

Sussex Beacon Half Marathon
On Sunday 21 February 2010 a team of runners from Amadeus successfully completed the 13-mile Sussex Beacon Half Marathon in Brighton, East Sussex.

(Pictured below, left to right) Richard Kelly, John Dickie, Sam Padgham, Mark Melzack, Diana Coleman, Sebastian Sass and Reda ElMekabaty all battled through wintery conditions to complete the grueling race. Despite getting very wet in the process, they all crossed the finish line and raised more than £1200 for Amadeus' national charity of choice - Dreamflight.

Dreamflight is a registered UK charity that changes young lives through taking seriously ill and disabled children, without their parents, on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida. It provides respite to carers and wonderfully unforgettable experiences to children that are forced to cope with difficult health issues.

In a letter to Amadeus acknowledging the amount raised, Dreamflight wrote, 'This amount will ensure that 6 special children will be able to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove this year.'

More information about Dreamflight is available by clicking the link.

Supporting local education
Amadeus UK works with the University of Brighton to offer students work placement opportunities within the company. Where space permits we also accommodate secondary school students looking for work experience within a dynamic and friendly working environment.

One of the students working with Amadeus in 2009-2010 said of the placement opportunity, "This work placement has given me hands on experience to see how theory works in practice. It has not only equipped me with drive and motivation for the future but has unearthed skills and confidence within myself, it has broadened my knowledge in the travel and marketing industry and has given me a solid base to start my future career." - A Pattni
