London, 02 February 2009 – Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has been named ‘Best Technology Provider’ at this year’s Globe Travel Awards.
The Awards, which are presented by Travel Weekly and were held on 27th January at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, were voted for by the travel industry. Travel agents voted for their favourite air travel company, cruise and ferry provider, coach and rail company, add-ons and extras, travel recruitment company, technology and on-line provider, accommodation and resorts, and tourism and tour operators.
“Winning a Globe award is a crucial badge of trust and confidence for the winning companies," commented Travel Weekly Publishing Director Simon Ferguson. "Both travel agents and their customers have spoken, meaning our Globe Travel Award Winners really can claim to be the best in their fields".
During three weeks in September, readers of Travel Weekly were invited to nominate any company to appear on the final nomination list for the 40 Globe Travel Awards. The final nomination list was launched on 21st November 2008, and travel agents were given until the 9th December 2008 to vote for their favourite provider in each category.
Collecting the award for Amadeus, Julian Mills, Director of Sales said: “To win an award, voted for by those who actually use our solutions, is invaluable recognition for all our staff who work tirelessly to ensure we provide the best technology solutions and services to our customers. This is the perfect start to the New Year and we have some exciting developments in the pipeline for 2009 which we believe will keep us at the forefront of travel technology.”
