Agents urged to set their own agenda with expanded range of Amadeus training

London, 14 October 2008: Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, is providing access to a new range of customer training courses aimed at helping travel agents boost their skills and knowledge of the Amadeus system, at the time and place most convenient to them.

In addition to expanding classroom facilities by 50% at its purpose built centre near Gatwick, Amadeus is now rolling out additional online courses.  These courses are available as Virtual Classroom training, designed for small groups with live instructors but without the need to leave home or office because they are conducted via web conferencing facilities. Additionally, a wide range of self-paced e-learning modules are also available, where lessons can be taken anytime of day or night via the internet.

This blended learning approach is seen as essential to helping travel agents maintain high levels of service whilst better managing the cost associated with staff training. For example, online learning reduces lost productivity because agents are no longer required to be out of the office. It also lessens the financial impact of travelling to classroom-based courses.

Monika Hoesle, Director of Operations at Amadeus UK & Ireland, says: “Interactive online learning allows travel consultants who are new to Amadeus to learn about our products easily and cost efficiently. Existing customers can utilise the new courses to ensure they are fully up to speed with the latest enhancements. Thanks to our expanded range of classroom, virtual classroom and online learning, UK travel professionals can now pick-and-mix a unique blend of Amadeus training that is perfect for their business requirements.”

The self-paced training will be available via a Smart Tab in the Amadeus Selling Platform from 3 November 2008. UK agents who undertake the e-learning courses will be able to chart their progress by means of interactive quizzes and skills assessments.  For each successfully completed course, trainees will also be able to print their own certificates.

Both the self-paced and virtual classroom online courses offer a comprehensive range of modular topics, allowing users to build on their expertise over time.

From 1 October 2008 the new Virtual classroom offering now includes:

• Group Air bookings
• Eurostar reservations
• Ticketing and Virtual MCO modules
• Supervisor courses
• Amadeus Cruise training
• Car and Hotel reservations
• Customer Profile courses

Additionally, students attending traditional classroom and/or virtual classroom training are now offered the convenience of self-registration, which means they will also be able to check course availability and schedules online.
