Amadeus Electronic Miscellaneous Document
Amadeus offers a complete EMD solution, fully compliant with the latest industry mandates and signed-off by IATA, enabling you to issue documents for travel related services, including unbundled airline services.

Both IATA and ARC have set the target of 100% global implementation of the new Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) by the end of 2013. As the industry continues it's evolution to a paperless environment, Amadeus is working closely with all of its travel agency partners to ensure a smooth and seamless transition to the new electronic technology.
Industry standard
The new EMD provides you with a single, standard method to issue all travel related services, replacing the existing automated MCO, Amadeus virtual MCO and IATA virtual MPD. All IATA and ARC agents will need to adopt the new standard by the end of 2013, when paper documentation will be withdrawn from use.
A comprehensive solution
Amadeus offers you a full EMD solution, with two types of document available:
· EMD-S (stand-alone) - the stand-alone EMD can be used independently from a flight ticket, and can be issued for services such as car rental or lounge access. This type of EMD will replace the current MCO used to collect residual value or penalty fees.
· EMD-A (associated) - the associated EMD is issued for services directly linked to a flight coupon, for example excess baggage or a seat reservation, and the status of both coupons is synchronized.
The Amadeus EMD delivers enhanced functionality compared with the MCO, including interlining facility, multi-coupon functionality and e-ticket association. It also provides automatic fulfilment for the new Amadeus ancillary services solution, offering a high level of flexibility that you can tailor to your customer's needs.
Fully integrated technology
Amadeus' EMD solution is fully integrated in the reservation and sales flow, with all processing harmonised within your customer's booking. This facilitates servicing, and gives you a one-stop view of your customer's travel choices in a single PNR. Updates are made in real-time, with reporting data automatically fed to the sales report and back-office systems through the Amadeus Interface Record (AIR).

With the same workflow as for the current automated and virtual MCO, the new Amadeus EMD will have a minimal impact on your existing working practices.
