Manage the heart of your business with a solution that keeps you on top of the day to day business of running train operations.
The Schedules and Inventory Administration Solution will allow railway operational users to set up Schedules and control Inventory, with a wealth of functionality available for managing efficiently and accurately.
Inventory Control Solution
The Amadeus Inventory Control solution allows railway’s operational users to manage inventory on a daily basis to maximize revenue and provide the best passenger service. This has a wide range of sophisticated features including nested inventory, overbooking, and inventory buckets. Users can manage booking classes, authorized inventory, seat/berth assignment, waitlists, crew space, inventory buckets, booking restrictions and warning messages on sold out inventories.
Schedule Change Solution
Schedules can be imported into the system and then maintained as Operational needs require. The Schedule Change Solution is very powerful and allows operational staff to manage all the necessary day to day scenarios such as:
- Change’s to Schedules/Timetable
- Changes to Train Consists (adding or removing Cars/Wagons/Trains)
- Automatically Re-accommodating Passengers (Car to Car, or Train to Train)
- Automatically Queuing affected PNR’s
Operational Staff can check to see the impact of a schedule change by running in a “Test” or “Pseudo” mode before actually committing the change to the “Live” environment.
Schedule change can be made for individual trains or for entire Date Ranges, the system can store schedules for more than 12 months in advance, so travellers can book well ahead of their trip.
Schedules and Inventory Features
| Nested Inventory | Control inventory at the booking class level. The effective result is the ability to limit the number of seats/units that may be sold at any given price or discount level. |
| Inventory Buckets | Protect the sales of long journeys at the expense of a short one, deny sale of a short journey if long journeys are selling well, based on the selling rules that the rail carrier has implemented. |
| Authorised Levels | Ability for authorised users to view real-time inventory counts and to manually set authorised inventory levels for a service. |
| Overbooking | Supports overbooking to help reduce lost revenue resulting from late cancellations and no-shows. |
| Waitlisting | Waitlisting allows a passenger to be booked on a waiting list for a specific booking class. If cancellation(s) occur or if the authorised level has been increased, waitlisted passengers will automatically be assigned a unit by the Confirm from Waitlist process. |
| Pseudo and Live Releases | Users may run a schedule change in Pseudo mode first to see the impact of a schedule change. |
| Inhibits and Restrictions | Ability to inhibit/restrict reservations at the service/segment/booking class levels. Restrictions may be set at a pre-determined time prior to train departure. |
| Crew Space | Identify seats/units on a service that will be designated as either crew space or unavailable for sale. |
| On-line or Overnight Schedule Changes | Users can easily update timetables and consists on-line or schedule the changes to run overnight. |
| Reports | A full complement of operational reports exists within the system, supporting day-to-day operations of a rail carrier’s services. |
| Passenger Re-Accommodation | The re-accommodation process enables OPS Users to specify re-accommodation rules. Passengers may be re-accommodated from car to car, train to train, or class to class. |
| Impact Analysis Report | After each Pseudo and Live release the system generates a report detailing the impact on passengers as a result of the schedule change. |
| Dynamic and Manual Connections | Manually build your connections or let the system dynamically build connections for you. The dynamic connection process builds services based on the defined station network and connection parameters. Users can view the dynamically built connections, update the results, and test the results before releasing them live. |
