Etihad Airways wins two Web Awards after successfully launching its new website powered by Amadeus e-Travel

Etihad Airways, the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Amadeus e-Travel, the global e-commerce business unit of Amadeus, technology partner to the travel industry, has announced that the etihadairways.com website has won two accolades at the UAE Web Awards.

The judges awarded Etihad the 'Golden Award' in the Travel and Tourism, and Strategy categories. Websites were judged on concept and creativity, technical format, ease of use and navigation, content and structure, visual design and aesthetics and finally, interactivity. Etihad's new website is based on Amadeus e-Retail and e-Service solutions, integrating online booking capabilities with an innovative award travel booking solution.

Founded in 2003, Etihad Airways has experienced a rapid growth at a rate of one new destination per month. The award winning airline selected Amadeus e-Travel to manage such rapid passenger growth to power both their booking and servicing engines.

The implementation, completed in only 2 months, allowed members of Etihad's loyalty programme, Etihad Guest, a clear display to book and redeem their miles. Etihad Guest members can use an intuitive slide bar to combine cash and miles when redeeming a travel award online, ensuring further choice for them and reduced costs for Etihad.
