    Madrid, Spain, 24 April 2012: The French National Railway, SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français), and Amadeus, a leading travel technology partner and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, have strengthened their 16-year partnership as SNCF becomes the launch customer for Amadeus Agent Track, a state-of-the-art rail booking solution for travel agents. Amadeus and SNCF have also agreed an extension to their full content agreement, which will now run to the end of 2012.

  • Should mobile technologies for rail have a standard?

     76% of visitors to the site over the last week have said no! So rather than having a standard way to see schedules, make bookings, or modify their itinerary, there is a preference to have different apps and different ways to find the information needed to check on a journey or booking. 

    Maybe we have (as paying customers) that feeling that if everything is the same we wouldnt get a unique experience in the way we want to see information on our trip, pre-trip or post. Apps that can be customised for viewing and making bookings would provide a traveller with a means to select the flow of information.

  • Maglev is the future? results of last weeks poll

    The Maglevboard is oriented to the public interest, works independently and, as a basic tenet, does not represent any commercial interests. It is oriented toward interdisciplinary and scientifically based support of long-term social well-being, especially in relation to sustainable mobility. One focus of our attention concerns the prospects and limitations of magnetic levitation transport technologies.

    This weeks question on our poll is around mobile applications for better informing travellers. An interesting website The CRC for Rail Innovation is directing the single biggest research program in the history of Australian Railways, with many projects on the go including one on smart technologies.
