In the spotlight

A seemingly small step to great efficiencies

Good news! E-ticketing is no longer the exclusive domain of airlines and online dealings. Now you too can benefit from considerable cost reductions while your customers will immediately recognise the step you have taken into what today is still mainly an online reality.

Electronic ticketing is here to stay, and with Amadeus Electronic Ticketing you can be first among many to give your customers the best of everything – the added value of your travel consultants’ advice as well as substantial time savings achieved through electronic ticketing.

Smooth and clearly Amadeus

Listening to our customers and listening well, we are forever striving to find solutions for the worldwide travel agency community. So we just finished developing an innovative e-ticketing solution that works even in markets where a Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) is not available: Amadeus Electronic Ticketing Direct. This option lets authorised travel agents issue electronic tickets (and report these transactions directly to the airlines’ revenue accounting systems) without having to report them first to the BSP.

Go with the best

Around the world, Amadeus guarantees travel agents the largest quantity of markets and carriers using electronic ticketing. Even in the area of e-ticketing are we industry leader and can offer you ‘the mostest’: most number of airlines implemented, most markets deployed and most interlines activated.

Go with your technology partner

Transition to a 100% e-ticketing environment (as mandated by IATA) eventually  requires all travel agencies to adopt the measure, and we are not only willing but very able indeed to support you in this endeavor. We have created dedicated workgroups who are working hard to identify and answer all remaining questions surrounding the objective of implementing electronic ticketing globally.

Some of the more obvious advantages:

    • Access to an immense community of e-ticket carriers
    • Real-time access to (and/or update of) electronic data
thanks to a direct connection to the airlines’ databases
    • Simpler business processes
    • Increase in productivity
    • Flexibility and security
    • No more lost paper tickets
    • Last minute travel easier to manage
    • Modifications can be done by phone
    • Saves time

WHAT DOES '100% E-TICKETING' REALLY MEAN

  • IATA mandated the removal of all automated neutral stock documents (OPATB2/OPTAT) in all BSP travel agencies.
  • 31 May 2008 was the last day for any paper document to be issued on BSP neutral stock.
  • Airlines unable to provide electronic ticketing will not be authorised by IATA to issue tickets in travel agencies.
  • IATA instructed each BSP airline to communicate their procedure for any document which is not e-ticket eligible to travel agencies.
  • BSP continue to provide manually issued Miscellaneous Purpose Documents (MPDs) to the markets that use them
