It was a new year and a new format for The The Phocuswright Conference in Los Angeles. This year Amadeus participated in Launch, which is the conference’s stage for established companies to share innovations and new technologies that are changing the travel landscape. Launch competitors, which included 13 other companies, had to pass through rigorous screening by Phocuswright and had to present a breakthrough and market changing innovation.
I am delighted to say that Amadeus won the runner-up 2016 Launch People’s Choice Award for Amadeus Ambient Services. The pioneering platform is an experiment that enables environmental-based, or ambient interactions throughout a traveler’s journey, thereby delivering the right service, at each step of the trip.
This opt-in technology can be embedded into any third party ‘smart’ touchpoint – be it in the dashboard of our cars, virtual assistant in our homes or hotel rooms – with no installation required. The technology connects these touchpoints to Amadeus’ systems, using analytics and contextualized traveler data to package the most relevant and efficient service at the right time, and offers it to the traveler. All the traveler needs to do is simply choose to accept (or not) the service that is pushed in order to trigger a seamless confirmation of it and a seamless payment whenever needed.
Additionally, Amadeus’ very own Tadhg Pearson, Senior Software Engineer on the Amadeus Innovation and Research team, was recognized as one of these rising stars in the Class of 35 at the Young Leaders Summit. This summit promotes executive management development among rising stars in travel, tourism and hospitality. Participation exposes this group to today’s travel luminaries as a critical step to becoming the future leaders who will drive strategy, innovation and growth. The year-long program includes organised online meetings, networking, contests and awards.
We are very happy to have received these recognitions for innovation and hope that this success translates into more breakthroughs in the travel technology space.
