In the midst of a dynamic and evolving distribution landscape, airlines are increasingly partnering with Amadeus to keep them at the forefront of industry trends and deliver tangible results. Amadeus Distribution has seen a record-breaking first half of the year.
Merchandising continued to soar as ancillary sales’ increased by an amazing 80% through the Amadeus distribution channel during the first half of the year. The revenue boosts brought on by this accelerated momentum led to a record number of airlines signing-up to and going live with Amadeus’ industry-leading merchandising technology.
A new frontier in the merchandising landscape also opened up. Earlier this year, leading TMC Egencia spearheaded into merchandising by implementing Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services. This marks the kick-off of a whole new space in the high-yield corporate travel arena as TMCs progressively incorporate merchandising in their offering to business travelers.
Building on existing rich content capabilities and with Etihad Airways as launch partner, Amadeus Rich Merchandising was launched in March, bringing even more branding, differentiation, promotion and traveler engagement opportunities for airlines through the Amadeus distribution channel.
Recognizing the revenue growth, market reach and brand exposure that partnering with Amadeus-connected travel agencies brings, 21 airlines signed distribution agreements, of which 9 represented airlines joining the indirect distribution channel for the very first time.
7 LCC and Hybrid carriers also signed distribution agreements during this period as they push on with their ambitious plans to target and build loyalty among existing and new customer groups, including business travelers. Bookings on these carrier segments saw a healthy 17% year on year increase during the period and 80% of global LCC and Hybrid carrier seats are now available through the Amadeus distribution channel.
These results show the vibrancy and dynamism of the Amadeus distribution channel which has evolved to address the dramatically changing needs and strategies of all airlines and their customers.
