Amadeus Seals Strategic Deal with HBAA

London, 26 January, 2009 – Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has signed a strategic partnership with the Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA). This partnership will enable Amadeus to gain further understanding of the hotel agency sector’s technology requirements and develop products which support specialist agents in the hotel bookings space.

Developing new products, such as the automation of group bookings, will ultimately benefit HBAA members by helping them streamline their processes and generate efficiencies. Under the terms of the new partnership, Amadeus will also be presented with an invaluable opportunity to increase its presence in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events (MICE) market - a rapidly expanding sector with particular technological requirements.

Steve Ockerby, Chairman of the HBAA, said: “We are the voice of the hotel booking industry, and we strive to promote the interests of our members, enabling them to deliver the widest range of services to their clients.  This new partnership with Amadeus will benefit our members greatly and engage them in the development of cutting edge technology for our sector. “

Guillaume Thevenot, Business Development Manager, Hospitality, Amadeus UK & Ireland, said: “At Amadeus, we are committed to investing and developing hotel technology and believe that a partnership with HBAA is a natural progression in aligning our vision and ideas with hoteliers and agents. Partnering with an established and recognised organisation like the HBAA provides us with an invaluable opportunity to share best practice in the travel technology arena which is particularly important in bringing the next generation of hotel booking engines from concept to reality.”
