Jet Airways renews global distribution contract with Amadeus

Globally-awarded Jet Airways and its fully-owned subsidiary Jet Lite seal three-year full-content distribution contract with Amadeus

Bangkok, Thailand (Asia Pacific), 23 September, 2008: Amadeus, a leading global technology and distribution partner to the travel industry, today announced that Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, has renewed its global distribution contract with Amadeus. The latest three-year distribution contract will make seats on Jet Airways and its wholly-owned subsidiary Jet Lite available through the Amadeus Global Distribution System, expanding the two airlines’ offerings of high-quality service and affordable fares to millions of travellers.

Continuation of the contract will provide continued benefits to both traditional and online travel agent communities. By providing a secure access to content, the renewed contract will allow agents to offer the highest quality customer service and best available fares on two of India’s leading airlines through Amadeus’ distribution network of more than 92,000 travel agencies worldwide.

Sudheer Raghavan, Jet Airways, Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Jet Airways is establishing itself into a global carrier with its international expansion. With our fully-owned subsidiary Jet Lite, acquired in 2007, the group has enhanced its services by opening up air travel to a whole new segment of the market, bringing affordable travel to millions. Our partnership with Amadeus will support this growth”.

“We are delighted to be working with Jet Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, as also Jet Lite, a leading Indian value-based carrier,” said David Brett, President, Amadeus Asia Pacific. “This renewal will ensure both airlines are reaching out to the broadest possible customer base, offering both the full-service and low-cost airline experience to a new generation of air travelers in India.

"Opportunities for airlines in the Asia-Pacific region are vast. According to industry body the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), tourism revenue in the region is expected to surpass 4.6 trillion US dollars by 2010[1], with close to half a billion visitor arrivals. Significantly, aircraft manufacturer Boeing recently said that airlines in South and Southeast Asia are expected to order more than 3,000 planes, with India as one of the key growth drivers[2],” he added.

Ankur Bhatia, Managing Director, Amadeus India added, “Jet Airways and JetLite together represent a formidable force in India’s airline industry, so it’s excellent to have them on board. The partnership is testament to the fact that Amadeus’ cutting-edge technology and leadership position in the Indian market continues to add significant value and makes us the preferred technology partner within the travel industry.”

Jet Airways, a five-time winner at the prestigious TTG Awards for its world-class customer service, most recently won the ‘Best Cargo Airline of Central Asia’ award at the prestigious Cargo Airline of the Year Awards, held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London in April 2008.
