Case study 1:

Community approach in action

Amadeus provides a state-of-the art reservation application for more than 148 competing airlines, all using Amadeus in their own sales and reservation offices, together with travel agencies, corporations or travellers in the public using Web sites powered by Amadeus. Continuous functional enhancements and improvements are made on the Amadeus Central System and become available to all Amadeus users, as part of the system community.

Recent developments include PNR sharing, and a same fare quote system for increased distribution efficiency.

Case study 2:

Project lifecycle

Amadeus uses a collaborative new product development process based on partnership with customers, who are involved at every phase to ensure the best decisions are made and shortening the development timeline.

Proposal Concept Planning Construction Acceptance Transition

Phase IV Acceptance
During the Acceptance phase, the product is thoroughly tested in its target environment to ensure its conformance to requirements. At the end of Acceptance, the product is ready for release.

Phase V Transition
During the Transition phase the product is released to the user community. Product responsibility is also transferred to the line organization.

Phase I Proposal
The Proposal phase is a pre-project phase, during which the business case for the project is established and the project scope is defined.

Phase II Concept & Planning
The goals of the Concept and Planning phase are to analyse the problem domain, establish a sound architectural foundation, develop the project plan, and identify the highest risk elements, the cost, schedule, and quality goals of the project.

Phase III Construction
During the Construction phase, a complete product is developed.
