When we give, we can help others grow and achieve a better quality of life. The Amadeus Donation Engine, first implemented by Iberia and UNICEF in 2013, has already made this possible for a great many children in need. By enabling Iberia passengers to donate more than €500,000 so far to support UNICEF’s global vaccination campaign, Amadeus technology is contributing significantly to shaping the social and economic growth of diverse communities around the world. This campaign has helped to improve the lives of thousands of children in countries like Chad.
We have agreed to extend this relationship with Iberia and UNICEF for two more years. In just the first year of this growing global online donation programme, travellers buying air tickets on Iberia.com donated more than €200,000 to UNICEF. In its second year, there is evidence that much more can be achieved through this project, as donations continue to grow steadily and have so far reached the €500,000 milestone.
Social Responsibility is an integral part of our overall strategy and our agreement with Iberia and UNICEF is a powerful example of how we can use technology to scale up our impact on projects for social development.
Amadeus also has an ongoing agreement with UNICEF so that travel companies who would like to join this programme – Finnair and Norwegian also participate, as well as Iberia – can also benefit from the Amadeus Donation Engine. We believe that collaborative social responsibility projects like this, are essential to shaping a better future for some of the most vulnerable children around the world.
Our consolidated agreement with UNICEF and Iberia represents a successful example of what we in the travel industry can achieve if we combine our strengths with those of organisations dedicated to fostering social development. We look forward to new partnerships of this kind with more travel industry players.
The Amadeus Donation Engine is provided free of charge to UNICEF and to travel companies wishing to join this collaborative project.
