For me, it’s Bob Marley as he was an amazing musician. I can often be heard humming ‘Jammin’ at the end of the day, especially if it’s been tougher than usual.
Someone recently asked me why I liked his music and it got me thinking. There are actually a lot of similarities between his success, passion for his job and his beliefs and how we work at Amadeus here in Asia Pacific.
Bob Marley achieved greatness in the music world, even after his 1981 death. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994; in December 1999, his 1977 album “Exodus” was named Album of the Century by Time Magazine and his song “One Love” was designated “Song of the Millennium” by the BBC.
These triumphs are all the more remarkable considering his humble beginnings – he grew up and started his career in the 50s in a small, poor village in Jamaica and faced a number of challenges while attempting to gain a foothold in the chaotic music industry of the 1970’s.
Amadeus Asia Pacific started out 16 years ago with nothing in the region and we have worked tirelessly to grow our customer base and become the most successful distribution provider in the region.
But like Bob, Amadeus hasn’t succeeded on our own. We’ve worked closely with our customers and our 14 commercial offices across Asia Pacific to build Amadeus to what it is today, successful and strong.
Bob Marley was not one to let challenges stand in his way, no matter how large they were. I like to think we think the same way; with confidence and optimism.
Bob Marley is one of my true inspirations. What inspires you?
