At an IT industry function in London last week, I listened to the head of the Olympics Delivery Authority describe the preparations for the 2012 games. Construction on all the main venues is now complete and testing is underway. Preparing for the Olympics, it’s essential to be reliable and dependable, people need to know you will deliver.( Click here for our Olympic travel analysis)
All this put me in mind of Amadeus and the reliability required of our data centre. Our work may not be quite as glamorous as building Olympic stadiums, but even more people depend on Amadeus as they travel by air, road, rail and sea, whether to sporting events, on holiday or to close a business deal. Innovations such as our collaboration with SITA to reduce the number of bags lost at airports help make life easier both for our customers and for travellers all around the world.
I also heard last week that 20,000 journalists will be accredited to cover the 2012 games, with as many again covering it unofficially. Amadeus does not attract quite so much coverage, although there is growing interest in what we do. Here in the communications team, we’re committed to keeping you in touch with Amadeus’ innovations and achievements. Let me know if there’s a subject you would like to hear more about in the future.
