This year was an especially exciting one at ITB Berlin with more than 100,000 trade visitors in attendance giving us an excellent opportunity to connect with new business partners from around the globe.
And as in previous years, Amadeus Germany showcased some of the latest technological developments at the Amadeus New Technology Lounge.
Some of these included:
- Amadeus Event Management Suite – This new solution includes the tools Amadeus Event Manager, a web-based solution for organising and marketing events, and Amadeus Meeting Place Finder which offers flight and hotel costs for different venues – helping you determine the most cost-effective combination for overall international corporate events and staff meetings.
- Amadeus Social Media Suite – This sophisticated social media management tool for travel agents got even more useful with two new apps which provide entertaining ways to make their social media presence even more attractive.
- CHECKMYTRIP Premium – An advanced notification and itinerary solution available as a complementary mobile app for Blackberry, iPhone and Android provides air, car, hotel, and rail content in a real push itinerary, as well as notification on any changes to travel plans, delays or cancellations via in-app messaging and integrated check-in links.
- Amadeus Rail Agent Track – Featuring content from French Railway provider SNCF, this solution enables agents to access the rail company’s schedules and inventory, providing a ‘single view’ of fares and availability on a single screen.
What else did we do?
Amadeus also conducted a number of presentations and panel discussions including a crowd pleaser by Sascha Nau and Thorsten Gerber which encouraged travel agents to actively get involved in Social Media during the “10 reasons why travel agents should embrace social media” presentation.
Ahmed Youssef took part in an Executive Round Table entitled “The Middle East – a Changing World?” a debate on the growth of the Online Travel agencies in the middle east.
One of the most interesting debates came on the last of the professional days with Amadeus Germany General Manager, Bernd Schulz, conducting a panel discussion on the pros and cons of direct connect with the participation of representatives from FM Travel, easyjet, and BearingPoint.
Last but not least, Susann Garcia Rodriguez, Director Product Management & Delivery participated in the panel discussion Tour Operators´ Customer Relationship Management: High Tech or High Touch?
Overall, ITB Berlin 2013 was a great success for Amadeus Germany and all of our colleagues from Amadeus Spain, and France. Additionally, the sales team did a great job in the Amadeus Technology Lounge and informed about 240 customers (almost twice as much as last year!) about new Amadeus IT solutions. The Amadeus Meeting Lounge was also fully booked; about 115 meetings took part in this closed area which was only available for private customer meetings.
There was an added surprise: Amadeus Germany was nominated for the Best Exhibitor Award (BEA) in the “Travel Technology & Media” category – which is based upon the quality and attractiveness of a trade fair appearance.
