I’m delighted to be writing my first official blog post as CEO of Newmarket, an Amadeus company since it was acquired in December 2013. My predecessor Jeff Hiscox has left the business in great shape and it feels good to be rounding up such a successful year for the company.
I joined Newmarket over 21 years ago and have held positions across the company, my latest role being CTO. Working at Newmarket, I’ve always been inspired by innovating in partnership with customers across the hospitality industry to deliver solutions that help them manage and care for their guests in the best and most efficient way possible.
2015 has been a particularly important year for Amadeus and its diversification into hospitality and I am thrilled to be taking on this leadership role at such an exciting time. Through strategic acquisitions, partnerships and new product launches we are marching towards our vision of an integrated hospitality technology infrastructure, including Central Reservations, Property Management, Sales & Catering, Process Optimization, Revenue Management systems and more. With all of these brought together on a single guest-centric platform, hotels, chains and hospitality providers of all sizes and profiles have a single view of the guest and a unified view of their business.
Let me reflect on some of our main achievements and milestones this year.
Acquisitions & Partnerships
The acquisitions of Itesso in July and Hotel SystemsPro in August have been major strategic highlights this year. Buying Netherlands-based Itesso BV, a provider of cloud-native property management systems (PMS) that provides PMS technology to 1,800 properties worldwide, has significantly boosted our technology offerings to hotels bringing us closer to our vision of a fully integrated end-to-end technology platform.
Similarly, the acquisition of US-based Hotel SystemsPro, a provider of high-performance ASP-based enterprise and property solutions to more than 4,500 hotels has expanded our presence to the hotel sales and catering sector serving the specific needs of mid-tier properties.
In April 2015, we announced the Amadeus partnership with IHG to develop a next-generation Guest Reservation System (GRS) that promises to revolutionise the technological foundations of the global hospitality industry. I am proud to work closely with our dedicated team of expert Amadeus and IHG employees who together, are making this exciting vision a reality.
Making a positive difference great or small to our customers and their business is what has always driven us to innovate, serve and be easy to do business with. We have achieved great milestones this year and enjoyed great times with colleagues, customers, partners and friends across the industry.
