Amadeus continues to power the websites of many of the key players within the global travel industry – including bmi (UK) and Qantas (Australia).
Amadeus enters into an agreement with Opodo, the pan-European online portal that operates successful internet travel sites in Germany, the UK and France and has expansion plans for other key European markets.
In Germany, Amadeus becomes the sole shareholder of the country’s leading distribution system by acquiring Lufthansa’s 66% share of START Amadeus. 18,000 travel agencies (over 45,000 terminals) are connected to the START system, serving 85% of TAs in Germany.
In the US, Amadeus acquires Airline Automation Inc, a leading provider of revenue integrity services for airlines, servicing over 55% of US domestic reservations.
New NMCs open in Hong Kong, East Africa, Iran, Indonesia, Kuwait and Libya.
