In January, Amadeus announces the global launch of a browser-based reservation tool called Pro Web. It is a solution that enables smaller travel agencies to enhance customer service by using the latest Internet technology, but without the need for a dedicated communications line.
Amadeus also reveals details about Project Vista, the code name for a new browser-based product featuring internet and TCP/IP connectivity. This will replace the Amadeus Pro travel agency management system that travel agencies have been using since 1991.
British Airways and Qantas agree individual 10-year contracts for Amadeus to maintain and develop their inventory and departure control systems (DCS).
Amadeus opens a support and development site near London's Heathrow Airport and announces plans to open another in Sydney, Australia.
Amadeus acquires Vacation.com, the consortium serving North America’s largest vacation selling network of travel agents.
