The new Amadeus GDS is unveiled when the first passenger name record (PNR) is created in the Amadeus Central System. This achievement marks the end of four years of hard work and the start of a new era in the travel industry.

The itinerary Madrid-Nice-Paris-Zagreb-Copenhagen-London-Hamburg-Milan using Iberia, Air France, SAS and Lufthansa flights is booked for Mr Wolfgang Amadeus, priced using Amadeus Fare Quote and then ticketed. It is the first of millions of PNRs that Amadeus users will create in the system.

More than 16,000 terminals located in the sales offices of Air France, Iberia and Lufthansa in 120 countries successfully migrate to using Amadeus instead of their national systems for all reservation requirements.

Amadeus Cars and Amadeus Hotels launch, offering agents easy access to information on more than 10,000 car rental locations and 10,000 hotel properties worldwide.

New national marketing companies open in Greece, Poland and Italy.

AMADEUS BOOKINGS: 70 million

AMADEUS REVENUE: €253 million
