Amadeus unveils AmadeusPro, which will allow travel agents to access national reservation systems and book standard flights, cars and hotel reservations, saving 50-80% of the effort that is normally necessary to make those reservations.

Complying with EU regulations, travel agents’ screens can now display neutral availability for all of the flights operated by the different airlines.

Thai Airways International becomes Amadeus’ first Asian partner. A further seven airlines become Amadeus System Users, joining the four founding carriers.

Amadeus launches another national marketing company – Amadeus Belgium – and construction of the state-of-the-art Erding data centre is completed in Germany in record time.

Almost from the start, Amadeus has nearly 20,000 travel agencies in its network.

Amadeus System User is a high-level interface between an airline and Amadeus, where the airline uses the Amadeus system as its own internal reservations system, very much the same way any travel agent using Amadeus would.
