Fast-growing development in Airport IT Services

Managing DCS services for the largest customer base

In 2000, Qantas, Finnair and British Airways mandated Amadeus to build a new generation departure control system (DCS). In addition, Amadeus took ownership of BA's RTB DCS system.

Together with the development of the Altéa platform, Amadeus contracted and implemented 13 new airlines on Altéa Departure Control RTB, a revised version of RTB and 11 airlines on Altéa Departure Control. Both solutions are integrated with Altéa Reservation and Altéa Inventory.

To date, Amadeus is already operating critical DCS services for 24 airlines carrying 100 million passengers and 20 ground handlers boarding 10 million passengers per year.

Altéa Departure Control already the market leader

In only four years, Altéa has become by far the leading Customer Management Solution contracted by more than 55 airlines carrying 425 million passengers to date.

Altéa Departure Control is a critical element of the Altéa suite and as such is de facto the most widely adopted departure control system in the world.

Altéa Departure Control is the only new generation DCS currently available.

Commitment to the Airport IT market

Airport IT Services is part of the core Amadeus offering to airlines and Amadeus is committed to further developing this area, which also serves airport authorities and ground handlers.

It makes sense to offer our new generation solution to airports and ground handlers that check in more than 50% of all passengers and manage two thirds of all flights worldwide.

Beyond its departure control systems, Amadeus continues to invest in complementary solutions and will provide more and more integrated airport services: self service check-in, boarding and drop-off, network connectivity, resource management, staff rostering, 24/7 help desk and deployment services, etc.

Amadeus has not only the financial resources, but also the critical mass of customers to further develop the airport IT business.

Jose-Antonio Tazón

We have a unique advantage over our non-GDS IT competitors: every time we invest in our global retailing platform, we invest, in fact, in our Customer Management Solution for airlines, airports and ground handlers.

It is this synergy and the growth of our already leading Altéa users community that enables us to commit to this exciting airport and ground handler IT market.

We trust that a move to the new DCS product Altéa Departure Control that will be offered by Amadeus guarantees the best possible long-term continuity for our present CODECO customers
