Social Responsibility

Despite important progress in recent years, poverty and underdevelopment remain serious, global problems. It is a fact that even today almost three billion people around the world live on less than $2.50 a day whilst 800 million people are illiterate, and 120 million children do not attend school.

Improving fairness and increasing opportunity around the world is a momentous challenge. And of course it needs unprecedented global co-operation between the public and private sectors.

Moreover it also requires innovative solutions, commitment and significant resources. There is no single magic cure but we are convinced that the tourism and travel industry - and of course Amadeus - can play critical roles.

How can Amadeus contribute to this positive change?

At Amadeus we have a set of resources and capabilities that uniquely enable us to help communities and underdeveloped regions tap into global tourism and its benefits. The Amadeus community consists of people who have a deep understanding of the industry and know first-hand what a powerful role technology and information play in this sector. At the same time we own technologies that bring travellers and a broad range of travel service providers together - from small, family-run bed & breakfast inns to the world's leading airline alliances, in real time and around the globe.
